Boiler Work
Historic Machinery Services Corporation Restoration, Conservation and Repair

Historic Machinery Services provides boiler restoration and repair. Although Historic Machinery is not a holder of an R stamp, our boiler work is perfomed following the NBIC (National Board Inspection Code)for repairs and the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) for new work and designs. Boiler survey's, to determine the MAWP, are performed by us, with the calculation and design aspect usually done or reviewed by an R and S stamp holder with which we have 23 years' association. This provides an independent review of the boiler's condition by a third, neutral party. Whether repair is riveted or welded, or alterations required, Historic Machinery has the experience, capacity and resources to perform not only tradional, but modern repair techniques. A full installation of new backhead braces, tensioned and ready for application of the door sheet.

Old loop style backhead braces were replaced with new ASME design braces.

New smoke box shell and ring assembled by riveting team.

New unflanged front tube sheet fitted and prepared for welding. Welded braces and dry pipe ring are laid out to reduce the original design's stress problems. With the numerous defects and stress problems the welded alterations provided a cost effective repair and improvement.
